A delicious cheese plate is the perfect way to celebrate National Cheese Lover’s Day on January 20. (My life as a cheese lover began on family picnics filled with blocks of farmer’s cheese and garden-fresh vegetables.) For an appetizer spread, start with three to five cheeses, roughly one ounce per person per cheese. Aim for a mix of cow, goat, and sheep’s milk cheeses, with a nice variety of firm, nutty, runny, stinky (so delicious!), and blue. Pre-cut them and serve at room temperature with simple accompaniments like crunchy crackers, nuts, seasonal fruits, and pickled vegetables.
